'Irene should not have lost her life here' - Vigil for cyclist at New Cross Road

Irene was an experienced cyclist and a cycle mechanic. She was tragically killed in a traffic collision with a lorry, when cycling along New Cross Road.

Friends, neighbours and many local cyclists joined the vigil to remember her life, and to campaign for safe space on roads.

A white bike was installed at the collision site, with bouquets of flowers.

Vicky Foxcroft, MP for Lewisham North, and Louise Krupski, Lewisham lead for Transport and Environment, attended.

Lewisham cyclists said they would be “campaigning for safe space on our roads in Irene’s memory”.
